[Voice Post][Waking dream]

[He's talking to someone, but there is no voice responding to what he says]

I already know how this goes.

Ah... the mirror is new... The truth? Can you really find that in a mirror?

...The other half, perhaps.

[The midsummer heat was stifling, though the Tachibana manor was cool inside. A fan blew and a soft breeze teased a windchime. The Cicadas were deafening.

In the distance, a child's voice called for it's father, but he was face down on a table, the few pills he couldn't swallow scattered over the table top.

He'd had this dream hundreds of times, and he watched silently as this vision burned away and the midsummer heat became a furnace. A building was on fire and a cat was darting through the flames as half-finished puppets burned and smoldered. Some burning wreckage collapsed on the creature and it died with a pained yowl.

Sakon closed his eyes and the heat dissipated, becoming a cold blackness. At first it was impossible to see, but some candles flickered into life, casting light on thousands of faces of dolls and puppets from all over the world. The floor was a black mirror, and when Sakon stepped across it, he had no reflection. Not far from him was a massive statue of a Bhodhisattva woman holding a child. Reflecting beneath her was the same statue but of a Hannya holding a sword. A young man dangled from the stone blade and he might have been handsome before a giant sword through the head had spoiled his looks.

Sakon didn't seem perturbed by this. He'd seen these deaths hundreds of times in his dreams, and he'd had more than his fill of them in the past. Having a good memory and a damaged psyche would do this sort of thing.]

through the looking glass, waking dream, come play, see the truth?, dreams and memories
