Apparently I missed this at the time, probably swamped by school & not checking LJ. I'm wondering now if you're back from the UK or still there. Wondering if you'll get notified that I've posted this here. And wondering if you have particular aversion to chiropractic that you might want to discuss. I can just listen and not try to convince you of its merits. But if it's purely a financial thing, I'd like to offer to help in that arena. I'm biased not by my attendance of a chiropractic college but by my prior experiences into thinking there's a good chance that chiropractic care at least has a chance of helping despite the bleak prognosis offered by the neurologists. In fact, a former classmate of mine here was told by several practitioners (including a couple at this school) that her condition of numbness/tingling/pain radiating into both her arms but R more than L was most likely permanent, but she has at this point accomplished almost total reduction of symptoms. At the very least, before something as drastic as surgery, which I don't believe has a high efficacy rate to begin with, perhaps this is something that could be looked into... much love, hoping the UK has treated you well & we can possibly talk soon.
