magnesium

A few years ago, I started having this weird sleep pattern. It's something I've done off and on for my entire life, but it really kicked in about 3-4 years ago.

I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, usually. When I'm tired, I can sleep. The one bout of true insomnia I had last fall was almost enough to tip me over the edge into complete, ravening lunacy. Insomnia SUCKS.

My sleep issue that I wake up, usually 2-3 times per night. It's often for some external reason, and it's often brief. Sometimes, though, I'll partially wake and have these really weird, vivid sleepwalking/talking sessions.

The most common manifestation is to wake and either not know who's in bed with me, or to think that there are people in the house waiting for me. In both cases, I wake up just enough that I can move around and talk and remember bits and pieces. I usually jump suddenly out of bed, though sometimes I'll creep silently--what would you do if you woke up next to someone you couldn't identify? I'll get "dressed", but usually something weird. A jacket, with no other clothes. A shirt. sometimes I'll make it to a shirt and shorts.

I usually wake up fully while I'm getting dressed. Sometimes, I'll get all the way into the kitchen; once I got outside.

Magnesium supplements make this stop. They also help me sleep deeply enough that I actually have real, REM dreams.

I dreamt last night. It was magnificant. I don't remember the dream; I just know that I woke feeling more refreshed than I do 90% of the time.

God bless pumpkin seeds and chocolate.
