EDIT: I know steal&repost-ing can't be avoided, but I would really appreciate it if you left credits at the bottom of wherever it is you repost my translations. Even just a "CREDITS TO BOXEDYELLOW@LJ" is fine.
I'll admit I'm a credit psycho, and because I am one, I've been now and again checking around for people leeching off my LJ without permission or due credit - which, by the way, people have actually gone ahead and done. I know its basically unavoidable, but I'll leave this as a HEALTHYYY reminder for you all to PLEASE LEAVE CREDITS. Thank you. Now enjoy yourself:
KANJI

TRANSLATION
There aren't any stars in the Tokyo sky
Well, that's what was written in the letter you sent
Everything's the same as always here, nothing's changed
During this time of year we're preparing for the festival
The bamboo shoot decors in the store by the station
You're familiar with this scenery too
With all the children happily running around
Nothing's changed since then
I remember walking along with you
on nights when the Tanabata Festival neared
I wonder if you still remember
Come and see that full starry sky
we once looked up at together
The frogs croaked as we walked along the wheel tracks
We headed off to pick the bamboo grass
Do you remember that?
You always chose the blue strip of paper*
I remember that
I remember walking along with you
on nights when the Tanabata Festival neared
I wonder if you still remember
Come and see that full starry sky
we once looked up at together
You're the one who works too hard
Why don't you try and give it a rest sometimes?
Let's recall the wish you wrote
on that old strip of paper
I remember walking along with you
on nights when the Tanabata Festival neared
I wonder if you still remember
Come and see that full starry sky
we once looked up at together
Lalala...
Meet me under that full starry sky
Meet me under that full starry sky
Legend : Tegoshi Massu Unison
*Translator's notes:
"strip of paper" - it's actually called
tanzaku, and it's a long strip of cardboard where people write their wishes and then hang them up on branches of trees.
On a side note: Why does Tegoshi get two full verses and Massu only gets one? LOL
I did all of this myself, (literally everything, including typing out the kanji myself) so if you're going to repost any of this anywhere, please leave a comment and credit properly. :)
The spacing of the Kanji and Romaji was adjusted according to how I spaced the translation, sorry about that.
