Cold floors

I think one of the best parts about living off campus is being able to feel the season, even when I'm inside. In the dorms, its not the same. With an old house, the chill in the air outside sneaks in through the windows. It floats over the floors and chills them. With hardwood floors, I can feel the cold from outside on the bottoms of my feet. Each room of the house feels different, and each room takes on its own climate. The dorms were too controlled yet uncontrollable. Open and window, and its going to get too cold. Shut the window and its going to get unbearably hot. It was far too difficult to find a happy medium, and it killed the sense of the seasons for me. It always felt like I was fighting to get the windows opened to let in just the right amount of cold and fighting with the heat so much that I never got to enjoy this slight chill of fall that I realize I missed so much.
