Nope, Mets is short for "Metropolitans", which they are, because they are from New York. Way back in the day, they used to be named "The Amazings". I think both names are incredibly stupid.

And yes, I also realize that rooting for the Cardinals is about the same as rooting for the Bengals if I can't root for the Steelers. HEAVEN FORBID I DO THAT!!!
