When The End Comes

Oct 25, 2013 13:54

After watching this I'm now convinced that this song must be playing (instead of Skynyrd's "Free Bird") in the final moments when SPN fades to black forever (barring the motion picture release a couple years down the road *wink*).  I dare you to watch this and not cry.  Robert Plant cried it was so freaking amazing.

....

\o/

This video gave me so many feels, I can't even.

Plus Heart are so Awesome! Ann and Nancy show how it's done!! They've been covering Zeppelin since forever. I love it!!

And then, there are all the celebrities who came there to pay homage -- Jack Black and Dave Grohl on stage to name my favorites that I recognized right off -- and in the audience our President, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama!!!

You better believe I was choked up and in tears the whole way through. This song means so much to me. I love that Robert was a hippie and put such awesome transcendent lyrics into the greatest rock song of all time. You know, it's like a shoutout to those of us who are fannish, because he was too. :D

My house is named Tir Annun, which in Elvish means Look West, after the third Stanza. :D

Thanks very much for this! There's a url you can run a youtube through to get an mp3. I am going to do that right away -- unless there's some other way to get it!! Oh, yay, .99 from Amazon. It is now mine. :D ( ... )

OMG, Heart! I know, so amazing.

there are all the celebrities who came there to pay homage

Lenny Kravitz and Yoyo Ma were there, too! So was Dave Letterman. I think to would be unbelievable to be honored in this way and by your peers, knowing that you've touched so many people and that you were part of creating something that will be with the world forever. Talk about a legacy.

You better believe I was choked up and in tears the whole way through.

You really want to bawl? Apparently John Bonham's son was playing the drums. It's explained in a HD version of the performance that I just embedded above.

My house is named Tir Annun, which in Elvish means Look West, after the third Stanza. :D

I adore that.

It is now mine.

And mine, too! \o/ Thanks!

would it not be amazing to see Mary Campbell Winchester stepping out of the light to welcome her boys home, John and Bobby proud behind her?? And now I'm bawling again. This is exactly what I imagined, too. I love the idea esp. being that Mary set the downward spiral in ( ... )

It would be rocking if they could get JDM, but if not, they can totally dub John in-- they've done it before. :)

I kind of thought that was probs Jason. I think they'd kind of have to get him.

did you see Jack Black's presentation? and the Foo Fighters doing Rock and Roll? It was pretty cool.

I did recognize Yo Yo Ma and Lenny Kravitz too. :)

It was fun that the MC for the video was Carl Kassel. I love his voice. :)

I'd take any JDM, dubbed or not. The Winchester family together would be worth waiting for 10 seasons.

did you see Jack Black's presentation? and the Foo Fighters doing Rock and Roll?

I did! They were both awesome!

the MC for the video was Carl Kassel.

It was?! I'm surprised I didn't notice. One of these days I'm going to get him on my answering machine (or voice mail). ;)

Okay, yes, I'm totally crying now.

OMG, Show should totally do some Kickstarter type of deal to get enough money to get Stairway for when Show ends. I'd participate! (Also, I was watching S1 of Revolution with the hb the other day and I was so insanely jealous when Zeppelin started playing in the episode. And there wasn't just one song but two. *hulksmash*)

Hi there ! Jumping in to ask how you like Revolution? I am jealous also that Edlund went over, and I have always followed him to all his various projects.

We've watched 17 episodes of the first season, and so far it's been action-y enough to keep watching, but for some reason I'm not connecting fully with it. There's action and mystery and the story's moving forward, but the characters are not really explored in depth. But sword-fights, YAY! :)

Agree 110%. The characters just didn't do it for me despite trying and trying to get into them. I wanted to connect with Charlie in particular being a female heroine with MUCH ANGST and a supposedly emotionally meaty story, but I just ... couldn't. The character that really drew me in (or the one I thought had great potential) died. So that was that. :(

There really aren't words for how awesome that is. Heart! So yeah, I'm crying and then I read the comment about it being John Bonham's son and I am a blubbering mess. Plus bonus Yo Yo Ma. Rambles on to find the tissues......

The power of music and human emotion always amazes me; I was crying, too (and I was wondering "WHY AM I CRYING!??!"). But then again sometimes I cry listening to news articles on NPR....

I'll one-up you. I've got a Dolly Parton cover!

OMG, Dolly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HER. When I was 2 I used to get in trouble at my grandma's house for singing "Two Doors Down" at the dinner table (my parents thought it was hilarious). My parents had one of her records that I'd put on our record player and sit and listen to the entire thing. If any of my kids would sit in one place for the time it took a record to play, I think I'd have a heart attack. I guess it's a testment to how awesome Dolly is (hmmm, maybe I should play her record for my kids).

Awesome cover, BTW. Thanks.
