I don't think we will end up blaming Sam after this week. But I do believe Dean is blaming Sam, deservedly or not, for everything.

He lost Lisa and Ben, he thought he found his brother, he feels betrayed by this shell of Sam and he doesn't understand what Sam is really saying. You know he is thinking back to when it WAS Sam and he trusted Ruby over Dean. How much more can he take? All he wanted was his brother Sam... the way it used to be. Why can't he have that? It was too much and he erupted.

Yes, the rest of the show will be Dean and Sam and Cas working on finding Sam's soul. I hope they don't wait until the last show of the season/series to put Sam back together.

I was shocked that Dean went off on Sam like that. That was disturbing.

I'm not sure what Dean has to own up to though. He left Lisa and Ben to help Sam and be with Sam. He was also hoping he could have them both in his life. In the end he has neither. Dean went ballistic. I know some will think now that Sam has 'fessed up, then Dean should understand. But I don't think Dean was buying that answer, not completely.

I don't think we should go crazy over why Dean went to see Lisa when he was a vamp. Once again he was saying goodbye - not a good decision, true, but he felt he had a good shot of being killed, if not by the vamps, by Samuel. Dean is not really very experienced in having a relationship (this is his first and he's screwed up mentally for sure), so he was bound to do something stupid.

To me the show has always been centered around Sam, but from Dean's POV, his reactions.

At least we have reached this point. Now we figure out who has the soul.. angels??

Looking at the fact we're 1/3 through the season now and we're still learning the very basics about this season's mytharc (and still don't fully know Sam's motivations), SPN is crawling along at a snail's pace. I'd like to see Sam reunited with his soul sooner than later, but I'm not so sure it'll happen unless the plot pace begins to dramatically pick up from here on out. I'm beginning to suspect the season's end might be Sam getting his soul back and, if there's another season, the cliffhanger would have to do with "at what cost" and "in what mental condition is Sam now in"?

I'm not sure what Dean has to own up to though.

I don't think I implied that he has to own up to anything. In fact, I think he has every right to be frustrated and angry, but I don't think that gives him the right to abuse anyone, Sam included.

I don't think we should go crazy over why Dean went to see Lisa when he was a vamp.

It's not really the details here that I was expressing my worry about, it was what they imply. In this case, it's SPN tendency to spin things such that one brother's POV seems more sympathetic. In reality, it's both Sam and Dean that "are to blame" for their situation.

To me the show has always been centered around Sam, but from Dean's POV, his reactions.

Yes, I think that is esp. true for what we've seen of this season so far. But in the beginning, SPN was more of a shared perspective (S1 and S2). It wasn't until S3 that I think SPN started to bury Sam's POV. I think, though, that Dean has been integrated into the mytharc (i.e. been the center of a story). The whole angelic half of S4 and S5 was contingent on Dean, he was to be Michael's vessel. So, really, it's Sam and Dean's story, but has become increasingly told from Dean's POV as the seasons progress and only recently have jumped back to Sam being the center of this season's plot.

Now we figure out who has the soul.. angels??

I can't wait to see how this plays out! :)
