Fandom on Fandom

Oct 20, 2008 15:45

Hey guys, I (or my journal, the tiger meta, rather) unknowingly ended up in a SPN fandom vid (a fanvid about fandom) a couple of times.  It debuted at Winchestercon this past weekend.  Wow, am I a dork or what?

Also, my fellow flister-fangirls, kentawolf  and erinrua, are in the vid, too.

Thanks to maharet83 for the heads-up.  You can leave comments for the vidder here.

Do you want to enlighten me?

Oooo, a Portal Playdate! Did I tell you the story of my pink Xbox controller? It's all Mike's fault. He gave it to me for my birthday and I felt obligated to use it because he spent so much time and effort and thought on the gift. Being a non-gamer, I asked him which game I should try and he gave me Portal, a non-gamer's puzzle game with a psychotic computer that keeps promising you cake at the end. It is a game I bet you would love! Wanna come over and play?

it looks like a wooden robot squatting over a flaming chocolate cake

Why yes, it is a robot reaching over a chocolate cake to put out the candle. Because the cake is a lie! (That makes more sense once you've played the game).

Anyhoo, the end credits of the game scroll to the song, sung by the psychotic/insane computer who has spent the entire game trying to kill you. She apologizes for it, too, at some point along the way. Trust me, you'd like this one.

I dug up the EW - here's what they say in the Oct 24th edition:

"Supernatural on the CW - The thinking person's Ghost Whisperer hits its spooky stride in season 4. Existential end-of-days drama + hot dudes = yay!"

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Wanna come over and play?

YES! Except I think there should be REAL cake at the end or at least something with sugar in it. I've been itching to make something dessert-ish. ;)

Are you serious? No way, it really is a robot over a cake?! LOL!

Couldn't have said it better myself!

I think the person that wrote that must be a fangirl or else entertainment journalism is jumping on the "fictional math = yay" bandwagon ... which = YAY! ;)

Well, I'd hate for you not to have anyone be around to appreciate your hard work (A. does not count if it's chocolate!). I've got your back. I'm there for you. Anytime. We'll coordinate calendars - or at least mark January 16th down (I was wrong - it was January 9th in my dreams).

I'm pretty sure EW is staffed by fandom folk which means it's all good. :)

Do you remember the last time I made a giant chocolate THING (that double-decker chocolate cake)? I couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

We'll coordinate calendars

*flips through calendar* I have some time free in August 2009. *snork* Seriously, maybe something the second week of November?

or at least mark January 16th down

OK, so now I have a DEADLINE. This is good. I'm better if I have a goal. *puts on determined face* We're almost there, just a couple of handfuls of episodes left. One of these days I'm just going to download them from internet and burn them to DVDs so A and I can watch them downstairs on the couch and eat ice cream. The idea of having to cram around the computer screen makes it just that much easier to not watch.

Yes, a goal! Goals are good - and to help you with it, I'll bring you the next couple on a DVD on Thursday. :)

OK, crack dealer, I'll bring ... money to buy the caffeine. I'll plan to be there between 9:45-10. I'll be the one dressed in a black trench coat, wearing sunglasses and hiding behind a newspaper in the darkest corner.
