First Night.[for songofsong]

Outside the TARDIS was Alderin Beta. It was 21st September 2360. He'd just picked up River Song on her first night in Stormcage. He knew why she was there, of course, and he knew just what she'd sacrificed for him. Taken to kill him at Lake Silencio but unable to do it; tore time apart because of it. But then she trusted him, and she went to prison for him, always to be known as the woman who killed the Doctor. But the Doctor was still alive. And in that universe she'd created he'd placed his trust entirely in her, and more than that, he'd married her. Was it really a marriage? Well, it was debatable. But he certainly considered it so.
It wasn't the first time he'd taken her out, of course, but it would be the first time for her, and the first time for him since it had all been spelled out so clearly. He was prepared, or at least as prepared as he ever was, but then she popped in, and she popped in again, with him in tow, and to say the least, well, it threw him off balance a little.
It had thrown into stark remembrance the fact that she would die. The fact that for him, she already had. It was as though he was watching her whole life like a data ghost blinking away in it's last moments.
Still, he couldn't let him think about that, or the older version of himself he just saw. He couldn't live his life that way. He had to live in the now, and right now, they had some stars to see.
Wiping the pained expression from his face he turned on his heel and skipped his way to the door, following after River who had just passed him.
"Right then," he said, clapping his hands together. "Let's see me impress you."
