I have not written a real update in quite awhile, so I figured I'd just jot a few life occurences down.
This is my senior year (glory be!) and I am about to start an internship this Friday. In the Human Services major, our internship begins with two long classes for five weeks, and then we head off into the real world of helping people. My last final is tomorrow, and then I start Friday at the Gateway Education Center. It is a public school for children with special needs, ages pre-K through high school. All students at the school are at this separate location for good reason. That is, the level of cognitive function or physical function or behavioral problems is to the point that a "normal" public school could probably not accomodate their needs. I will be working with five K-2nd graders who have Autism.
I am living in a house off campus with two amazing roommates, and having a great time. I miss res. life on campus at times, but I know that this is the best situation for me right now.
Andy and I have seen each other twice since I left for school in late August. (I flew down to visit him and he drove up this past weekend to visit me.) I actually think that the distance has overall brought us closer together in many ways, and I am just so grateful to have him in my life. Things are definitely going very well. I am heading down to Georgia to see him again for Fall Break. We may go off on our own to Chattanooga or somewhere nearby for a night or two, which would be great. :-)
My parents also came to visit this past weekend, which was very fun. It is strange to think that it was their last parents' weekend at Elon.
Still, I feel good for my time here to be winding down. I don't know what's next in my life, but whatever it is, I'm psyched.
