Glad I didn't get 2 dogs at once

Al got home last Monday with Maggie. Ever since then it's been the Maggie and Brutus show. Maggie dominates Brutus like she owns him. It's kind of funny seeing this little dog go after this almost monster dog. And Brutus is a gentleman. Maggie has this Kong toy that looks like an octopus. (For those not in the know, a Kong is a chew toy ball like thing you can put snacks in for them to chew out) Brutus picks it up and nudges Maggie with it. She'll grab one of the "octopus" legs and they'll pull. Brutus will pull on it, then let up so Maggie can pull on it. Then he'll pull, then let her pull. It's too cute. He does it with his Bobo doll, too. (A Bobo doll is a stuffed long doll)

Last Thursday was the big "snip-snip" day for Brutus. Took him in at 8. Picked him up at 3:30. I put him in his crate when we got home so Maggie wouldn't bother him when she got back from her visit to the vet. The vet said no running or horsing around...stuff those two have been doing the past 3 days. The following day, Brutus wanted to act like his old self. I wasn't going to let him. So I leashed him to the leg of a chair for the day. Maggie hated it almost as much as he did. But he didn't do any exertion. So I let him do what he wanted on Saturday.
He was fine and dandy by then. Except Saturday morning at 4:00. He was barking up a storm. So I came downstairs to see why he was barking. He had shit in his crate. So I let him outside. He went to his bed and I sat in the recliner until Al got up around 6 or so. Brutus was fine the rest of the day.

Sunday morning...4:00 am. Brutus is barking up a storm. I come down, let him outside and he immediately runs out the door. He usually waits until I go out before he goes outside. He shit again out there. I put him back in his crate and went to bed. When Adam was leaving for work, he told me that Brutus had a huge dump in the kitchen the night before (sorry for being graphic). He told me it impressed him that it was that large. My son is an idiot at times. Heheheh Sunday night Al was checking for Maggie pee (she isn't house trained...grrrrr) when he said "BRUTUS!". He left another "huge calling card" in the kitchen. Now I started to worry. I called the vet this morning. After talking to the vet, the lady said it could be a combination of his surgery and the shots he had. Come and get some meds for the diarrhea and bring in a "sample". So I did that and he's had one dose of meds so far. We'll see how this goes. In the meantime, he is supposed to start puppy training tonight. They said go ahead and take him. I guess I will.

Al's been on edge all day. Tropical storm Fay is heading for the Keys. A couple of people have been calling him asking what to do since he's not down there to answer his questions. We keep checking the weather to see where Fay is going. It looks like it'll hit Key West. Marathon will get hit with rain and possible tornadoes. He said he may fly down after it dies down to check damage.

So this has been my life in the past week. I need a vacation. :)
