I do not like people who are religious zealots. God and religion were things created to bring comfort to an unsettled and unbalanced world. I do not like when people claim to be saved, and that to go to "heaven" you must have been saved. No one knows if a power such as god exists, no one means no one at all. Science and reasoning offer logical explainations to the strange things presented to us by the bible. A book not meant to act as a history channel documentary, but rather a faith message, a testimony to the life of Jesus (who undoubltedly existed thanks to our extra-biblical writers). People say, "I do not like sicence because it takes away the magic of the miracles, but you should not think of these as miracles. They are signs and wonders...not magical, but no less wonderful for having happened. So many questions stem from such a complicated subject. Life, death, heaven, god, faith, politics (both of church and state).....we all wrestle with our demons when it comes to our views and ideals about these things. Is heaven not a paradise but rather a dim and dank world of pale faceless ghosts? Maybe heaven mirrors that of the model presented to us by C.S. Lewis in The Great Divorce? WE CANT KNOW. WE WONT EVER KNOW. At least not until we die. I do not enjoy be called heartless when I say I'm pro-choice or pro-gay marriage. It does not matter if the fetus has an eyelash and a fully developed third toe. All that matters is what the mother of the child wants, the choice she makes. If she chooses abortion, then she can deal with her decision by herself. Being gay is not as unnatural anymore, and besides this issue renders with me in a meh? who cares if you're gay? If two people love each other enough to want to make the committment/joke that is marriage then by all means let them get married, church or no church. They want the title and the benefits, they too are only people, so stop denying them rights because you're unsure of your own sexuality and/or you're a huge homo-phobe. To be basic, keep your personal and religious beliefs out of your politics. Investing emotion into a heartless world i.e. government/politics does not help, it only offends and angers. I find it funny that Jesus' message was to love your enemy as you would yourself, on a personal level some accomplish this. On a national level, not at all. There are so many hypocrits out there, too many. The church claims to include all, love all, so on and so forth. But has this message, a very important faith and spirit message been followed throughout time?! Nope. The church excludes, political parties are rampant with exclusion, we fail to include the power to think all constantly it seems. I do not appreciate it when someone says God will take care of things, you only have to pray and wait with a strong faith in the lord god almighty... This just isn't true. You can pray and pray and pray, and believe and have faith but to no avail. Then you are told, "Your faith in god was not strong enough". That is an awful thing to say to someone that does have faith. God will not cure the world-wide hunger and sickness, and endless problems that we people have brought to it. Praying allows the person who is praying some false comfort. One thinks, "Little Timmy's cancer will surely be cured by God because so many have prayed for him". Timmy may live, Timmy may die, but God will have no hand in his life or death. I know I will get no response from anyone on this. People say, "Oh I will not get involved, or some such nonsense, but HEY why not?! Go for say what you want, I've only barely scratched the surface on this. Sigh...keep on truckin' I will.
