Weirdest Problem Ever

I have no idea why this is happening. But my keyboard just stopped working for all the numbers and the backspace. Now pressing the "five" key emits a beeping sound and nothing else response to anything at all. I've tried plugging two different keybaords into my system but neither resolves the problem. . . gah. Any help?

Odd, numbers one through five don't work plus backspace. All other keys appear fine.

edit: and suddenly everything is working fine again . . .
