Aladdin Sane - Sterling silver lightning bolt pendant necklace with rubies and sapphires.
Here is a jewel I created to honor David Bowie's talent - an Aladdin Sane lightning bolt made of 925 sterling silver and luxurious gems.
This pendant measures an impressive 10 cm (3,93") of total height, there is no chance it will be looked over when worn. To enlarge this impact I filled it with a variety of exclusive beads, all I could collect in shades of red and blue. These are mainly rubies and sapphires but I also added tourmalines and garnets to the rubies, as well as iolits and fluorites to the sapphires, so that the red and blue hues get richer. The lightning bolt is completed with a sexy little drop, just like one that rests on Davids collarbone on the album cover. It's made of a faceted ruby briolette.
Interesting how the wire influenced my concept. I decided to keep it pure wire wrap without cutting and soldering for creating the sharp angles of lightning. The lines are flowing instead and I like how it worked out making it more of a memory. A precious memory. "Still I keep my love for you"...
