I Geek Out
If you are anywhere near a comic book store, you NEED to go get the first issue of 'The Gunslinger Born,' the comic adaption of Stephen King's 'Dark Tower' series. The first issue just came out yesterday and my god it's the prettiest comic I have seen in a long time. The artwork is haunting and eerie, the writing captures the tone of the novels just spot on. (King acts as creative director, but Robin Furth is actually writing them. Furth wrote a number of Dark Tower compendium books.) The first issue focuses primarily on Roland's test of manhood against Cort and it's beautiful. As much as I love comics, I can usually wait for the entire collection to come out and just buy the trades, but I cannot wait for the next issue, let alone all seven in the series. Absolutely gorgeous stuff.
