I didn't go to school today. Around noon I woke up, dragged my six blankets with me down the stairs and tripped over a little blue book. The fall was pretty funny, what with the doubled body weight in blankets. I looked at my assailant. "BABY BOOK". I opened it and skimmed through. I saw 1989 scribbled in red ink, my mom's handwriting. I dropped to the floor, blankets in tow, and read.
Baby's Words of Wisdom:
On your first few fays at Montessori preschool, you went up to Ryan's teacher and said "Mommy says I can't say the word stupid and Mommy says I can't say the word ass and I can never ever say stupid ass." Three years old.
Baby and Animals:
A gerbil who was black with white stripes on his paws and belly. You call him Fluffy-Scary because he is A. Fluffy and B. scared of you (and every other human).
First Girlfriends:
Kerry Tattar is your first girlfriend at Saint Rita's and Katherine Larrick, our neighbor across the street. Age three.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First Boyfriends:
A fourteen year old family friend, Zack Cohen. "I'm going to marry him, Mom." On Special Person's day at Saint Rita School, your classmates bring their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents etc. You bring Zack. Zack has a nervous habit of biting his nails. You begin chewing immediately. You are three.
I still bite my nails.
