Maelstrom:
Went LARPing with a whole load of other people from TT. I had great fun even if it was very very windy the first night, very very cold the second night (I woke up repeatedly overnight shivering), and inexplicably impossible to sleep more than four hours the third night. Apparently it also snowed a lot.
I managed to half-appear in two photos. In the first one I'm cut off at the left edge of the shot; in the second one all the Spine are outside the Jade Lotus admin tent and I have my back to the camera. :)
Then I predictably caught a sore throat near the end of the event, which blossomed into a cold that I'm just about recovering from now.
Also, last Wednesday I went with Bryony to see Nightwish at the Astoria.
Here's the set list, which I wrote down at the time:

They also had two encore songs: Wishmaster, and then finally Wish I Had An Angel.
The setlist for the Thursday gig is pretty much the same, as far as I can tell, except on Thursday it seems they also played 7 Days To The Wolves and Sacrament of Wilderness. (They might have played the latter on Wednesday, but if it's an instrumental track I may not have realised it...)
The new singer, Anette Olzon, was pretty damn good. The band focused mainly on the songs from the latest album, which were written for her voice rather than Tarja Turunen's, but when she did sing some of the older tracks she did a very good job. Different voice quality, certainly, and she doesn't and never will sound the same as Tarja, but I like the new voice of Nightwish and look forward to hearing more of it.
