more on Bush's parting gift

You guys may remember my post about Bush's plan to pass an initiative which would essentially allow government to redefine abortion to include the most common forms of birth control, restrict releasing proper reproductive rights information to patients and refuse to provide these basic services.

Well, the rule passed...even with the opposition of 200, 000 Americans, 150 members of congress and the American Medical Association.

So now anti-choice medical staff members can WITHHOLD information regarding abortion, birth control, and sex ed from their patients. Facilities, such as Planned Parenthood, that receive family planning funding will have to certify that they will not refuse to hire nurses & other providers who object to abortion and even certain types of birth control. For example, a doctor who opposes pre-marital sex could REFUSE to provide a prescription or even information about emergency contraception to an unmarried woman.

With people loosing their jobs and access to health care, this is the worst possible time to restrict and refuse such rudimentary services to patients. This is a preposterous initiative & it's OFFENSIVE that is was passed.

We need to work on getting this rule reversed. Please read the following letter to Obama, sign and send: http://www.ppaction.org/campaign/hhsdec08_actionfund?source=hhsdec08_fb

& Please pass this information on. Thanks.
