Fox news put up this article on Sunday, April 26. Just one look at the title, and it was not hard to figure out just what I would be finding inside. The article goes in to the Department of Health's planned actions in response to the public health scare despite a missing chair. It also talks about the current state of the swine flu, how far it has spread, and some other notes on the public health scare. The subject of the article seems to have little to do with Obama itself and yet it still has that title. The title itself is the first of many, not so subtle barbs towards Obama throughout the article. It is painfully obvious just what their personal opinions are.
One of the basic principles of social responsibility in the media is no bias. They should deliver their story with just the straight facts and not taint it with their opinions on the matter. The reporter writes that, “[Richard Besser] said the government will provide "daily" updates on the number of confirmed cases and provide advice and intervene at the local level as conditions warrant”. I honestly don’t understand the use of quotations around daily. That really screams sarcasm to me, and again, that brings a sense of unprofessionalism and bias against the one who was interviewed.
There was some useful information in this article, but the overwhelming and pointless bashing of Obama really drew my attention away from any of that.
