The week before Christmas I got an email from Kobo/Chapters bookstore advertising their "Daily Play and Win" contest. So, on 3 separate days I played and each time I won a coupon worth 25% off my next purchase. Wonderful! Christmas Day I got an Gift Card for the store, so today, Boxing Day, I went online to use my shiny new gift card and coupons. Except I was told that ALL the coupons were expired. wtf?! Nowhere on the coupon is there an expiry date of any kind! So, I was very upset. I sent them an email expressing my dissatisfaction. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, reply I get.
On a more positive note, I did download another Doctor Who book, "Dead of Winter". It's my 3rd DW book that features the 11th doctor, and I must say I'm enjoying them a LOT more than the DW books I read featuring #10. I also bought "Flash and Bones" by Kathy Reichs, because I nearly always love her books.
Then I checked on Stephen King's newest book "11/22/63" (yeah, that's the actual name). Earlier I mentioned that I thought $19.99 was too much for the ebook version, especially since I could buy the hardover for $23. Now? They're EACH selling for $19.99. I absolutely refuse to pay the same price for an ebook that I would pay for the hardcover. My ebook has no printing, transportation or storage costs. So basically, the people who buy the ebook version of this book are subsidizing those who buy the hardcover version. No thanks. I don't care if the library has 100 holds on the book; I'll be adding my name and just wait for it.
Now I have to see if I can download the DW Christmas Special because we don't get the channel it aired on right now. Something to look forward to!
Hope everyone's Christmas and/or Holiday Season has been happy!
