The Skies of Fandom; From Devil's Nest to Dorms; After Close.

Closing up the bar and just narrowly avoiding an encounter with a smaller dinosaur that seemed to be darting around the streets, Setsuna realized that she was infinitely safer heading back to the dorms the same way she'd arrived: by flight. All this flying was going to leave her dead tomorrow, but she spread her wings easily and took off, flying ( Read more... )

A slightly wounded Pteranodon was flying with a couple of other pteranodons.

When it spotted Setsuna it called out to its brethren. Probably along the lines of "Hey that's the thing that kept poking me earlier! Let's buzz her!"

So all three pteranodons were now diving through the air at her.

Setsuna drew in a breath as she caught them in the corner of her eye. It had been a long day of flying and then cleaning empty glasses so her fighting spirit wasn't exactly up to par. With a quick manuever, turning slightly in the air, she darted out of the way of their dives, sheathed sword twirling from one hand to the other, ready, but not threatening. "Come on, now," she said. "It's late. Aren't you tired of all this?"

And she gave a sharp look to the slightly wounded one from earlier, "And you shouldn't be flying on those wings anyway."

Oh, God. She was starting to sound like Alphonse.

The Pteranodon probably shouldn't be flying.

Then again they weren't that smart.

The called out to each other in their language and tried to encircle Setsuna in a circle.

Aw, hell. Drawing in another breath, Setsuna was careful to watch their moments, to see exactly how they went about it. It was easy to pick out the one from earlier; with the damages from before, he wouldn't be a threat. The other two, though...

Quickly, Setsuna bolted straight upward; when she felt she'd darted up a good distance, she did quick spin to face them again. Her sword ripped from it's sheath, ready to attack. She suspected the other two would be darting up after her.

The flying reptiles were quick to react. The two pteranodons did dart after her screaming very loudly.

Meanwhile the wounded pteranodon quietly tried to outflank Setsuna.

Swish, twirl, swish. Having a good idea of how they reacted made it easy for Setsuna, in all her overpoweredness experience, to react fell, slicing down for the wing of one pteranodon, using the arc of her sword to twirl it around and bring it down on the opposite wing of the other. Without waiting to see the result, she pushed herself back against the air.

Straight into the one from earlier.

The first pteranodon screamed as it lost its wing and twirled violently to the ground. The second one was able to manuver out of the way and only receive a glancing blow.

The third one however did it's best to give Setsuna a bite.

The nip of teeth against her wing did not feel too good at all. Setsuna let out a surprised sound, quickly pulling back before darting quickly to get some distance from the pteranodons. Thankfully, the darkness wasn't a hindrance against fighting them, but her exhaustion was. If they planned on attacking her further, she needed to strategize, and she might as well get some distance while she thought. She glanced over her shoulder; she was moving quickly, maybe they'd decide her not worth the effort?

The wounded Pteranodon from her previous encounter was losing speed and could not catch up to her.

The other Pteranodon was keeping pace and continuing to scream angrily at her.

Great. Ugh, that scream was so horrible. It reminded her way too much of..of...

Well, some studies did say that pteranodons and birds might be linked, didn't they?

Setsuna stopped abruptly, whipping around, and then charging back the way she came. Better to just get this over and done with. She made a slice for the pteranodon's wing.

The Pteranodon dove down, but still got hit on the wing.

It managed to turn itself around and charged once again at Setsuna.

Setsuna quickly spun around, so when she turned out facing the pteranodon again, she was there to slice at its other wing.

The sword clipped the tip of the pteranondon's wing sending it into a tailspin to the ground.

An unearthly screamed followed it all the way down.

And that's when Setsuna thought it would be the end of it. But she noticed that the first pteranondon, the one from before, the one she had injured, was still flapping its way toward her. She blinked.

Persistent little bugger. It didn't even have its friends anymore and...

Setsuna flailed slightly. And then put her sword away because flailing with a sword was bad. "I don't want to hurt you! Why are you doing this?"

The remaining pteranodon kept its distance from Setsuna. It had seen its friends plummet to the ground.

It squawked at Setsuna. Perhaps it was voicing it's anger at losing its friends.

Perhaps it was about a broken heart.

Setsuna frowned at the squawk; she could at least pick up on the fact that it was a squawk of protest. "What?" she asked. "You had to have known that was going to happen! They'll be fine; they were only temporarily damaging strikes, like the ones I put on you, but you should not be flying so soon after! I don't want to hurt you; you seem like very, um, nice dinosaurs, really..."
