my weekend

It's been a busy weekend......it's all been good. There are things that I would like to have done but there either wasn't time or money would've been an issue.

Friday: After work at Exacto I went to Steins to talk about coming back. They want me back but I'll be starting as a cashier because that's what they really need right now but in time they want me back working with the plants. I start monday already. I needed to go to Goodwill and buy some work pants. Steins doesn't allow blue jeans and after I quit last time I went on a purging spree and got rid of all my work pants. I HATE buying shorts, pants, capri pants....especially in the spring when nothing fits me right. Seriously, it's amazing how I can walk into a dressing room, try on 30-40 pairs collectively of shorts, pants, capri pants and only like 5 items enough to actually buy. I do still have a couple pairs of capris, and shorts from last summer but I don't think that they'd fit me at this point. Despite being irritated about shopping I'm relieved to be going back to Steins because Exacto doesn't pay enough. It pays enough to get by but it's tight.....not much room for doing stuff.

Saturday: My parents were coming over at 4:30. My stepmom was in need of a bike and I have one that I don't ride. When asked how much I want for it I told them to just take me out to dinner and we'd be good. As cool as this idea was, it had me in a panic to really clean my apartment. My parents house has always been very clean, and never cluttered. My apartment has always been a big clutter and while I do clean my house it's never what I consider good enough for my parents to see. My day was spent cleaning......even things I knew they wouldn't see just because the knowledge that they were coming possessed me to clean it. I still didn't get it as good as I felt I could've. They weren't at my place long before we left to go to dinner. We went to Mama Mia's in Port Washington. I never go there because I always forget it's there but this time remembered. I gave them the choice between mama Mia's and Pasta Shoppe. Food was really good......I have leftovers.

Sunday: My grandma had surgery a couple months ago. She's still in a nursing home....she had a few set backs a long the way but is doing much better now. Her birthday was this weekend and her wish was instead of gifts she wanted her friends, and family go to a church, light a vigil candle, and say a prayer for her recovery, and birthday. This idea sounds simple enough but it wasn't so. I started out by going to mass at St. Mary's in Port Washington. I picked that church because it's pretty and because i remember grandma telling me she once was in town and attended mass there years ago. The idea was that after mass I'd light her candle and it'd be cool. I found out after the mass that due to insurance purposes that they don't have vigil candles anymore but I might want to try St. Peter's down the street. I went there and found that they don't have vigil candles either but I might want to try Immaculate Conception in Saukville. Ok.....now it's getting personal! Grandma WILL get her candle lit! I went to Immaculate Conception where mass had already started but was 20min. away from being over. They did have candles! I waited for mass to be over at which point I went to the front of the church, lit grandma's birthday/vigil candle, said my prayer, and briefly chatted with the priest there. I left thinking my grandma really is a miraculous person.......her birthday wish possessed her nonchurchgoing granddaughter to step foot into a church 3 times in 1 day, sit through a mass and a half, and light a vigil candle for the first time. I did email her about my adventures in finding a candle for her to light. I hope she finds it amusing.....it kinda was for me.
