damned gobblers

sheesh. the things i do for mom.

she asked me to go to this turkey farm and get the turkey for thanksgiving ok? you would think that's a relatively easy task, right? directions said to take a right at the I-Party store, and then at the end of that street, make a left onto central st and the farm is 1-2 miles down there. SIMPLE? yes, indeedy.

i went looking for that i-party store on needham street.... lalalal down and down needham st i go, and no i-party. hmm, ok i decide to take a random right and see if i end up on central. bam! i end up on central. so i'm going down central.... la lala... going down it for quite a few miles, and still no turkey farm. i ended up in the freakin next town over, so naturally i thought i was going the wrong way. all of this took about thirty minutes (yes, thirty minutes) and then i turn back. and... what i thought was a godsend ( a yellow sign saying "turkey crossing") ahhhh the farm must be near, so i hunt and hunt and hunt. no farm. hmm. fuck it. i decide to start over and get back onto needham street. so i take a left onto this random road and decided to see where i end up. next thing i knew, i was in lindsay's neighborhood about 20 miles away. go figure. so i de3cided to get on the highway... inch and inch forward in traffic before i finally get on the damned highway. AND guess what. MORE traffic on the highway! joy. so, i shifted into bostonian gear and zoomed through traffic tryin to get to fuckin exit 22B. and yet unbeknownst to me, i end up realizing i should have friggin gone SOUTH, not NORTH. so, i ended up at my high school. after an hour, i still had stamina left to take a second shot at finding that damned turkey farm. so, i meandered all the way through town getting back to needham street (which, blissfully, was on the OPPOSITE side of town) and after another 20 minutes of pre-thanksgiving traffic, i wasn't nowhere near needham street. mom told me the line would be long at the farm, especially since it was late in the afternoon. so.... all that driving and no damned gobbler.

mom oughta buy me a beer to make up for all that! :-P

now i'm out to dinner with my dad and grandmother. and guess what? i'm driving! blah.
