Telescope

A few weeks ago I bought a small 3" reflecting telescope
at American Science and Surplus. I've had it out for two
evenings straight now.  The dog across the street barks
and barks at the sight of someone (me) standing in my
driveway, peering through a telescope.

Last night the half moon and Saturn were very pretty.
I tried to develop a little bit of skill with the equatorial
mount and exhausted myself. It takes patience, but
I certainly don't feel pressed for time. Part of the exercise
is finding a way of setting the tripod up that allows me
to avoid back strain.

My weight continues to creep down. This morning I
was actually back in the 170s for the first time in years.
Running feels much better, and I simply feel better in
general.  I prepare the same breakfast every day:
sauteed vegetables with a scrambled egg and a
small can of tomato juice.

Sleepiness is an ongoing issue. Some of it may
be related to meds; some to not having the wake/sleep
cycle tuned optimally.

I'm finishing up the Philip Pulman trilogy and re-reading
one of my favorite novels, Hesse's Steppenwolf.
