....but it turns out that I'm such a net addict that checking LJ is a high priority even after 14 or so hours of driving. We made it to Denver, yey.
Listened to Starship Troopers, which was enjoyable despite its occasional forays into fascism. Also, if Edward James Olmos ever wanted to play a similar role to his BSG one, he could do a lot worse than Emilio Rico in Starship Troopers. Incidentally, Heinlein is in no way responsible for the movie, which I hear is completely different and suffers from laughable special effects.
Colorado is probably the most beautiful state I've seen, even if the last two hours were dark. Yes, while crossing the Rockies. Yes, I realize that we're doing it wrong ;). There were a lot of rivers along the I-70, and the mountains were crisp and dramatic.
Today: Redlands to Denver. 4 states, two tired people.
Tomorrow: Kansas City. 8.5 hours.
Saturday, St Louis and then Louisville. 8 hours drive time, with a break.
We have to stop in St Louis so Elliott can get his blood checked. He did an HIV vaccine study when we were at college, and now tests positive for HIV unless people do the long test =/. We're seeing if the antibodies are still there for future knowledge (Elliott is paranoid that the NHS will reject him). I think it's pretty damn badass that my SO is HIV resistant =).
We may stay over a day in Louisville, and then to Charlottesville for another 7.5 hours of driving. We have many audiobooks, so things will probably be ok. It turns out that we annoy each other less on a road trip than we do when attempting to clean an apartment together!
