I would like to express thanksgiving for my four day weekend this week ;). Since I worked last Saturday, and Elliott really wanted to take Veteran's Day off, I'm taking both Friday and Monday off. The break has been pretty delicious, I must say, especially since it came with a turkey!
Elliott, obsessed foodie that he is, wanted to be ahead of the culinary game this year, so we made a practice turkey. Not sure what it's practice for, since we aren't likely to be cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving, but who really cares? He made some shockingly delicious stuffing to go with, and I made gravy and a vegetable-type thing.
Mmmmmm, glistening bird...
Amusingly, the anatomy of the turkey alarmed me somewhat. It was probably because I usually am not involved with the pre-oven turkey preparation, but I was just disturbed by how heavy it was, and the feeling of the bones and muscles moving under the skin as I lifted it and patted it dry. It's like it used to be alive, or something.
So, we ate heartily and watched the anime SteamBoy (set in Victorian London with zeppelins! I love it!) and many episodes of Reaper, which I enjoy.
Today, Elliott is sleeping off a late night, and I am going to work more on my statement of purpose. I gave mine to one of my bosses, and he deconstructed it pretty thoroughly, so I have a lot more work to do on it. Hopefully I did most of that yesterday, but I still have to add a paragraph on why I think my going to graduate school in osteology will save the whales, free the peasant underclass, and rid the skin of blemishes.
Tonight's the advance screenings of Razor, the BSG telemovie thing, so we're going to leave for that in a few hours and hang out with other nerdly types. Win!
