He put her in a cage, the metal door clanging shut behind her with a ringing finality. It was a large cage, but not large enough for her to stand or stretch out; she had to crouch or sit or curl up. Her heard thudded in her chest. What was she doing here? What had she agreed to? What would happen now? She pressed herself up against the side of the cage, one hand slipping between the cold bars to clutch at the trailing ends of his unbuttoned shirt.
"Please," she whispered.
He kicked the cage, hard. Metal rattled against metal, sending vibrations through her body as she snatched her hand back and cowered into the corner. She understood: she was not to speak. Drawing her knees up to her chest, she bent her head and cried.
