live and learn
for what
for who
for when

our lives are just going in circles and nothing ever truly changes
the next generation is no different than the previous
the heartbreaks  are no less bitter
the laughter is no less sweet

and we all want to find a way out
a break from the cycle
to be different from what existed before we did

because it hurts
when youve seen the outcome of it all
in the eyes of someone else
and you know
that one day
you will be washing those windows

we take the words we're given
put them in a box
that will one day be opened
and then passed on

their meanings sting our hearts
only once theyve been forgotten
their hopes bring tears
everytime they are remembered

there never was a path to stray from
what was in someones past is now in our future
the stars have received the same dreams
the earth has felt the same knees
the trees have heard the same cries

we can't just walk away
because what was still is
and it exists around us
never within us
