zoepaleologa asked for my favourite shoes.
I am decidedly not a shoe person. For a start, I'm a size 4, and getting shoes in that size can at times be a trauma, especially shoes I like and am willing to spend extortionate amounts of money on. (Shoes are far too expensive.) However, I do love my Doc Martens. They were an absolute shit to break in, but now I've finally done it I love them dearly, and wear them just about every day because I usually stand up all day when in the lab and they're very comfortable for doing that in. Also, they make me feel like a football hooligan, which is a cheering thought when you live halfway between a mental hospital and a mortuary: They make me feel like I can kick the arses of any passing psychos and zombies, if it ever comes to that.
dragged_up asked for the three nerdiest things in my room.
I think these pretty much explain themselves. OH THEY'RE ENTHRALLING I TELL YOU. (Actually, the Pathology one is pretty interesting, if only for the surplus of disgusting pictures. There's a particularly excellent one of a
dermoid cyst, absolutely covered in wiry, thick black hair, and matted with a delightful cream cheese filling. OVARIES ARE FUN, YES?)
(Actually, I've just decided to
take a photo of that particularly delightful picture. Anybody who complains about it being gross gets no sympathy from me; I have to deal with the real thing at work.)
It's a Dalek moneybox. Dalek anything is pretty geeky, right?
And because I couldn't decide between which of these two pictures I would have...
Jarvis Cocker is a huge geek. Allow me to pretend for a minute he lives in my room. MmmJarv.
Every time you open a bottle with it, it plays a recording of the "United!" chant from the Stretford End. =D
dragged_up also asked for my favourite shirt.
I'm not a big clothes person but I do like this t-shirt. I have this thing about shirts with bird designs on, and this swallow one is my personal favourite. Unfortunately, because I got it from Top Shop (a place I seldom frequent), it is oh so slightly see-through, so I have to wear a vest or something under it in order to not flash my underwear to everyone. Oh well.
While I was poking
dragged_up into answering this meme, she asked me if she could ask for tits. I said no. However, I've decided to come to a compromise.
ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? This is the closest thing you're ever going to come to a picture of me here. It's a bit MySpace, but whatever, I'm happy to supplement the rumour that I have a big flash in place of a face. Also, yes, I know I need to wash all that toothpaste off my mirror. I just keep forgetting to!
ladythana asked for my favourite room in the house.
My flat is a shithole and my favourite room is my own, as it's my only private space in the entire building. However, I do have a favourite PART of my room. This is it. My desk. This is where I spend days of my life. It is the place I surf the internet, watch DVDs, listen to music, eat, store my books, drink bottles of wine, hide from the world, write pornography... basically, everything happens here.
ladythana also asked for my favourite pair of socks.
As with shoes, I am not a sock person. I just can't bear having things on my feet. As soon as I enter the flat, my shoes and socks come off, and unless I'm going outside they stay off. However, I do have some favourites. I like my Winnie the Pooh ones because they've got Winne the Pooh on them. I also love my long grey ones because they're what broke my Doc Martens in, thus the big hole in the heel of the one on the right. Anyone who has ever owned a pair of Doc Martens will know how difficult they are to break in, but with the assistance of these socks I managed it. I love my long grey socks. <3
trishkiss_x asked for my mobile...
Cheap and cheerful. I have no interest in mobile phones, and a borderline phobia of phoning up people, so I was hardly going to spend much money on the thing. I'm still in mourning for my old one which I lost when out on the piss in Sheffield, and was subsequently found by a sexual predator. Ho hum.
...something with my favourite colour...
Shitty picture, but there we are.
...what I eat for dinner/breakfast/lunch/snack...
Uko would rather have a bowl of Coco Pops for breakfast. I can't say no to chocolate.
This is by no means what I would usually have for my dinner, but I was experimenting. Satsuma and red onion salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It tastes all right. Also, a cereal bar to make it a bit more substantial.
My tea. Cappelletti with tomato and mascarpone sauce and cheese, and crusty bread and wiiine. My food presentation skills suck arse - I just sort of throw things at the plate, with no thought for aesthetics - but it still tasted very nice.
And this is what I'm snacking on at the minute. Snacks are usually something chocolatey, and this week's choice is no exception.
...and my favourite book.
I can never quite decide which my favourite Harry Potter book is, so I tend to regard the series as one large book like LOTR and have it done with. I do love my Harry Potters.
And A Clockwork Orange, which is a seriously astonishing, disturbing and beautiful book.
You can still
take part in this meme if you like. I just thought I'd get this lot out of the way while I had nothing better to do.
