The kitty that came to us last night was, in fact, not a pregnant mother, although we had started calling it "Juno".

He was an emaciated male in end-stage liver failure, with his abdominal cavity so full of fluid that he looked pregnant. He was severely jaundiced as well.

The vet said that the kindest thing possible would be euthanasia, and we agreed.

Juno was hugged, kissed, and told goodbye, and we let him go. He did not stop purring for us the moment we met him, and he was a friendly, cuddly, loving kitty.
