memory flash

Aug 25, 2009 09:21

When I was putting the outgoing mail on the cabinet this morning, I noticed the boss had already put some stuff up there. As I was reaching for it, I had a memory flash. I must of still been in elementary school but probably mid grade level because I could reach the mailbox without stretching but I was still shorter than it. As I was putting my letter in to mail (I don't remember who I was writing to) the mail lady drove up. She immediately started lecturing me on the proper way to place outgoing mail in the mailbox. "Letters should be stacked with the largest on the bottom and the smallest on top. Stamps should be on the end of the envelope closest to the door - out for outgoing mail. When she puts mail in our box, the stamps are on the inside for incoming mail. If we needed to buy stamps, the money should be in the correct denomination, she does not give change and should be placed in a bowl or lid on top of the outgoing mail with a note saying how many stamps we wanted and a thank you."
This memory flash got me wandering how many people nowadays know "proper mailbox etiquette" or if there really is such a thing. (headed off to do a quick net search....NOPE... found nothing along these lines) Sooo... here's a poll.... and please comment with your own experiences.
