So, the new Gaga album. FUCKING AMAZING, RIGHT? I wasn't really expecting it to be all that after Born This Way and Judas, but fuck me, it's so good (and the singles sound a lot better in the context of the album, I think). Initial favourites are Bloody Mary, Electric Chapel, Government Hooker and Scheiße, but I love the whole thing. I want to say something more substantial, because I've been playing and thinking about the album all day, but I'm not sure I can properly explain everything that I love about it. Anyway, the point is: she really fucking delivered, and I couldn't be happier.
In other news, I feel vaguely obliged to talk about the latest episode of Glee, even though I forgot last week and didn't much like this episode.
Usually I'm the person who cries at every damn thing on television - I got a box of tissues ready! - but I was unmoved. Mostly because I think it's hugely problematic that they just wheel out a disabled character and then unceremoniously kill her off purely so Sue can have something to emote about. I know everyone's over Sue and she needed a reset but did they have to do it in such an emotionally manipulative way? Blah. Also, I'm going to say this in a small voice because I know it's blasphemy, but I think Jane Lynch is a tiny bit overrated.
Also, Finn and Quinn. What is this? I just can't. The only satisfactory way to resolve the interminable love triangle would be to hook Quinn and Rachel up, and I say that as someone who completely failed to get Rachel/Quinn until Born This Way.
I felt like the audition sequence was less than the sum of its parts. Santana was smoking hot and sounded great, Kurt was Kurt, Mercedes was awesome, and Rachel killed it (holy shit, I wasn't super impressed with My Man when I just heard the mp3 but the performance was incredible) but I feel like they could have done more with the whole thing? IDK.
Favourite moments: Santana smokes cigars, and Brittany knows how to turn off a video camera. (Fuck you, Mr Schue. Please go to Broadway and leave this show.)
