Well, I think I found a church I can attend. Even though I shy away from mega-churches, I actually like this one. It's called James River, and it's one of the Assemblies of God churches. I already started going to the gym there and found myself discontent with my parent's church, Hope Community. I found comfort in one of the Eastern Orthodox churches, but my mom doesn't approve and it's too far for me to walk and I don't have a car. James River is on the way to Hope and I really like it. On the plus side, it happens (as mentioned before) to be the site of my workout point, it has a coffee shop and book store, and wireless internet. They are also looking for people to help with the worship team. I'm going to check that part out but if it's not for me I won't get hurt.
Tonight, I got to thinking about the deserts that we go through in our lives as Christians, and how are times of trials and teaching. Most people don't like going through these since they take us out of our comfort zones. Once we leave and head to the proverbial hills, we get comfortable and then need to re-enter the desert to remind ourselves of who God is and that he is a father that protects and cares for our every need. I believe I have reached the exit point of one of my deserts and am ready for whatever God has for me. I'm not afraid to re-enter another desert period, because I know that it will simply be God trying to teach me another lesson that I need to know. In fact, I'm excited for the next time I need to enter that period, so I can be broken down and refined some more. I'm not afraid of not having things. I know that whatever I need will be provided for me in some fashion or another. I'm so grateful.
I'm also reading Dean Karnazes' book, Ultra-Marathon Man. Check him out:
Wikipedia. I'm almost half-way through and just finished reading a section where he completed a 50mi race. When he was done, he sat down in his new Lexus, and his muscles all throughout his body locked up in agonizing pain whilst he vomited the fruit he ate during the run all over the interior of the car. I am so excited to run this marathon I'm training for.
I think I mentioned this in an earlier post, but I confirmed today that I do indeed have a warrant out for my arrest, courtesy of the state of Texas. I hope that doesn't show up on my background check for Best Buy. I am working to remedy the situation though, and hopefully it works in time for the background check to come back clear. I'm going to overnight the beginning payment of the money due for the fines tomorrow morning. This will set up a payment plan and clear my warrant.
Here are some photos I gathered off of my mom's camera and my own. These are recent, most of which are revolving around x-mas.
