so, i pulled a garret and shocked myself... i was trying to install the new light now viewable on our half-pillar outside out house. i was trying to turn the light on, and it wouldn't go on, after i had connected the wires, i was completely baffled and so i whipped out the circuit tester to see if there was current going through it, at either end, both at the switch and at the conection point.... nothing. soooo, i figure the switch is dead, and being a dufus i don't turn off the circuit breaker before dealing with "dead" wires, thinking there's no current running though them... so. i take the flathead screw driver and press the release sping to get the negative wire out, which worked. then, i go for the positive wire, and as soon as the screw driver touched the spring, as i was holding the metal housing of the switch, turned my body into a 120v ground, sending pulses up my arm, holding on for about 5 whole seconds. i can finally let go, holding the screw driver staring blankly at the switch.. drop the screwdriver to the ground and hold my still twitching arm. i then lay down and fall asleep from exhaustion.

i wake up and finally figure out why the light wasn't working, i was dealing with the wrong switch!!! so... some more connections, and carefully putting the mean switch back together, and it works.

fun, huh? that was my day after hanging out with garth while she was at the fair.
