home tomorrow?

I will probably be going home from the hospital tomorrow. This has been less than the picture perfect operation the last one was. I ended up needing two blood transfusions of two units each, an extra operation, a small sigmoidoscopy, and a nasograstric(NG) tube. yeah good fun, expecially the NG tube, getting that inserted was great. imagine trying to drink a glass of water while having a tube shoved up your nose and down into your stomach. it felt sorta like a had a screw driver shoved up my nose and the worst sore thoat ever for the two days or so that i had it. But, that was a lot better than the alternative: hic-ups and vomiting.

I have been so impressed with my surgeon though, and I am very pleased that i chose him. The first night when i was having such heavy bleeding, he came back to the hospital and slept in one of the on-call rooms just to make sure he was right near by if we needed to do an emergency operation. and when i had my sigmoidoscopy to try and find where the last little bit of bleeding was coming from i was told he would not be able to perform it becuase he was the middle of helping with an operation at swedish. by the time i got down there he was already there and later the nurse told me that the other doctor he was working with at swedish couold tell he was worried and told him he ought to leave and come over here. so again, very impressed with this guy. if any of you(heaven forbid) ever need, or know someone who needs, a colo-rectal surgeon you should deffinately check him out.
