Field trip today warranted great fun. I woke Jerome out of his slumber just in time to drive him and myself to Bradenton and meet the great Lou Ferrigno. I usually don't mark out for celebrities as I recognize they're human as well, and I've met quite a few famous people throughout work, wrestling, networking etc... and when I say I don't mark out too much I mean the "oh my god I have to meet this person" type of marking out... usually marking out for a celebrity from me consists of "Nice to finally meet you, I respect your work, it's a pleasure, have a good one" but for LOU.... I took the day off from work at the gym, and was bout it bout it all wk since I heard he was gonna be nearby this weekend for a meet and greet. For those of you who don't know who he is outside of the Incredible Hulk... he was only the #2 guy in the Arnold Era of bodybuilding. Also, he was in countless Mr Olympias and also a star in the first documentary movie about bodybuilding PUMPING IRON... so yes my friends, in the world of bodybuilding he is one of the top guys.
Here's the story, I posted it elsewhere, and I'm just copying it here to save time. I gotta nap and head to work. Goodnight peeps.
A gym in Bradenton had a Grand Opening and Lou Ferrigno happens to apparently live close by... so us Tampa boys got wind of it and drove the hr or 45 mins whatever it was to go meet Lou.
A grand tour of the gym... you cardio lovers would love the place... I personally would hate the place. It had great technology, a lot of space, a lot of machines, and nice people... but simply did not feel like a hard core bodybuilding atmosphere... a few of us refer to the difference as a Cali gym compared to an eastern city gym... no offense to anybody.
Needless to say it was an impressive place. They bragged about dropping 3 million dollars on the place in equipment and whatever else... but me and my boys were there to simply meet Lou.
Lou was setup in a corner and ya pay 20 bucks and they give you your choice of a photo, a poster, or a book from a various assortment and he signs it, shakes your hand, and ya get a picture done...
Naturally to me... 20 bucks was worth it. A book, an auto, and the privilige of talking to Lou for 5 mins was well worth the 20 and the trip.
My boy Mark happens to look a ton like Lou, and we had been giving Mark a hard time forever... and he was stoked to finally meet Lou... You guys will be shocked by the resemblance... Even Lou himself said that Mark reminded him of himself and could go places.
Enough rambling... here's my pics. Enjoy! I know myself and my boys enjoyed the time. Peace.
Sam, Mike, Beau, Jerome, Me, LOU, Sergio, and Mark (doesn't he look like Lou? amazing resemblance)
Goodnight.
