I am fully aware of how very little my life would be worth in that current circle. While His Lordship may be an idiot, He is not a fool, and twice burnt would find Him more than willing to send a certain curse my way that I should prefer He not cast at the moment.
Instead I find myself once more forced to play bodyguard to James Potter's brat.
Dull, I'm certain it is not. We are discussing Harry, after all. So tell me then, does Lake Cottage still stand, or have the two of you razed it to the ground?
Who are you, and what have you done with Severus Snape?
Oh, don't give me that look, you left yourself wide open for that one. And as to the Cottage, it's good to know you've faith in it -- one needs something to invest such in at times like these.
It may seem an odd question, Severus, but I trust you'll indulge me; Is there a bit of unclaimed space in the attic or basement where I might store a trunk or two? Just for a fortnight or so?
Rescued artefacts from the DoM. We've been backtiming two weeks to clear out the archives and storage facilities before the blast brought the basement in. It's getting a bit crowded back then, but it certainly explains the department-wide migraines at the time.
We daren't cache all the artefacts in any one place, lest they interact, or their unshielded presence attract young Tom's attention. My family's taken all they can manage, and still we keep on pulling more out of the Then. I'm simply running out of ideas. After you, I've got to contact Remus and ask about space in that cottage of his down in Cornwall, since I don't fancy that young imp of theirs around any of this lot. She's more curious than ten Gryffindors, and that's no stretch of the matter!
Indeed. I am wondering why the Vatican has yet to be contacted.
I daresay we can find room for a few trunks. The cottage is perhaps the safest place from His Lordship at the moment given the number of wards Potter, Draco and I have reinforced this week.
I should strongly suggest keeping anything that might be implosive away from the brat. She is far too quick for her own good and far too capable of finding trouble. If she lives past Hogwarts I shall be surprised.
Not that I think the Granger Weasley Potter brat will be much better.
They're waiting to see if your stigmata are going to interact with your potions and cause another miracle, of course. Explosions do not count.
Good then. I'll floo them over once I've finished pensieving the Think Tank. Stroppy brains and wee bottles for simply days, Severus. I shall run mad soon if the damned things don't stop humming!
Well, if the standards are that loose, then I'm in the queue ahead of you, laddie. It was me, after all, who managed to restrain myself from transfiguring all four of the Marauders into stoats for the duration of their fifth year, after all. Not to mention all the times I did not transfigure your teeth into brambles over the years.
I'll see to it the trunks are warded to contain and conceal. You oughtn't to need much beyond a basic watch-warding on them. And I should think that Draco's nerves would be better soothed not to have you show too much worry about what they might do, either.
Harry seems to have a similarly odd calming effect on you, Severus. I'm sure I cannot fathom it, beyond a sign of the end-times. Heard any angels singing of late?
Alas, you're right. Though I'll not tell you how tempted I was after that lovely charm they put on my desk during mid term examinations... Had the hutch all ready for them before Albus talked me out of it.
And I've no idea to what you are referring. I am always calm.
Albus always was a spoilsport. I have yet to understand his prohibition on Veritaserum. It was the only intelligent decision that toad Umbridge ever made.
Would never dream of it, Severus. That's your purview, dear.
And now you're just trying to make me spill my tea for laughing. Unkind, Severus, very unkind.
As for Albus, the man always has loved his secrets above nearly anything else. You cannot be surprised he'd oppose anything too revelatory.
Oh, bollocks. Severus, Nic has just saddled me with retrieving the damned Bell Jar, and I cannot send that through the floo unescorted. You don't want to know what will happen if that bloody wee bird gets loose again. I'll have to send it with a courier, if you'll unward the floo passage from my summer cottage.

How very dull.

At any rate I sincerely doubt His Lordship himself could bring that bloody cottage to it's knees.

I suppose we might make a bit of space. Should I ask for what or is it an item which would be best not to inquire about?

I shall prepare space for them. Is there any particular warding they require?

He always was rather high strung.

Although Potter has an oddly calming effect on him. I ignore that particular fact.
You would not have done that to any student, Minerva. Pity. The fools would have made excellent stoats. Black and Potter in particular.

Consider the Floo unwarded. I assume your courier will have credentials.
