I'm sitting in a sunny window of a cafe in Palo Alto, California, waiting to meet a friend from high school for coffee. It's been a whirlwind week--from release party to cross-country trip, to schlepping up the CA coast, to school presentations and local book signings--whew!!
But it's all been absolutely amazing.
Here's a glimpse of the party
I have other photos to share--mostly of my buddy William on our jaunt around CA. But I need to download the camera first.
One thing that's been consistently amazing, since I've started on this whole "published author" part of my life, is the support and enthusiasm I've received from people I've known in a range of life phases: former teachers, old friends, neighbors, former colleagues...it's overwhelming. Last night, I had 20 people show up at a signing out here to cheer me on...some of whom I hadn't seen in over 15 years! We reminisced and laughed and talked books and hugged. And I can't help but marvel--if I hadn't done this; if I hadn't published this book, I wouldn't have this experience. I'd have missed out on reconnecting with these great people who used to be such fixtures in my life.
I am so, so grateful for all of the opportunities this adventure has brought me.
