Free Books, Meet Authors!
SO many exciting new web things to share today!
• First, pop over to the Debs debut2009 community. We're giving away a $25 gift card to Powell's indie bookstore--all you have to do is leave a comment by tomorrow at 9pm EST! You can do that, right? Then you get to go shopping from the comfort of your own home.
(and we won't tell if you want to buy books for yourselves, and not anyone on your holiday shopping list)
• Come meet AuthorsNow! we're a huge (75 strong!) collection of children's book writers with debuts coming out in 2009. The site features interviews, blog posts, book info, and all kinds of fun stuff. You can leave us comments, find out more about our titles, or even see which writers are local to you! It's a great resource for teachers, librarians, booksellers, and book lovers!
(plus there's a really cool animated banner-thingy that has all of our pretty, pretty covers on it. Luvs the pretty!)
• If you're on Facebook, join the group Buy a Book, Save the World! (if the link doesn't work, you might need to search for it). Members commit to buying one book--just one--to help get the publishing industry and our economy back on its feet. Me? I've bought 4 books in the past week. List at the end of this post.
• If you want to flaunt your book buying prowess (like me!), hop on over to author Karen Dionne's blog (I don't know if she's a relation; I emailed and am waiting to hear back from her) Buy More Books. Leave a comment with the name of a book you've bought recently, and check back to see it appear in the Cover Slideshow or on the list of favorites (and hey, purchasing a book on preorder counts, too. I'm just saying..)
