Much like
mostly_irish , Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love spooky-scariness, dressing up in costume, and things that go bump in the night. Pre-Halloween, here's more than you wanted to know about my love for the holiday. Consider this a meme, if you will.
1. Best costume: Without a doubt, the year I went to my friend's annual Halloween bash as Darth Maul from Star Wars.
I was fully painted, had horns made from candy corn, and was dressed in all black. Several people didn't recognize me!
(note: image is not me!)
I have also been Grommit, of Wallace & Grommit fame, a devil with a blue dress on, Regan from The Exorcist (post pea-soup), and Freddy Krueger. No, I don't go for the sexy costumes. Yes, I might have a problem.
2. Worst costume: In sixth grade, I wanted to be a mummy. After spending an afternoon shredding old sheets and getting wound up, I proceeded to unravel half way down the first street and spent the rest of the night gathering my bandages and looking pathetic.
3. Favorite scary movie: The Exorcist scares the crap out of me, but when it comes to good, old-fashioned slasher films, I'm a Nightmare on Elm Street girl all the way.
4. Best candy: When we lived in NY, we had a neighbor who gave us full-sized Cadbury chocolate bars. YUM! Otherwise, I looked forward to Kit Kats and anything with peanut butter.
5. Worst candy: Mike & Ike's. Good 'n Plenty (pretty purple box does NOT make up for narsty taste). And the dread DOTS.
6. Favorite animated feature: Don't get me wrong, I love Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, but I have to go with a Disney film for this one--their animated Legend of Sleepy Hollow takes most of the narration word-for-word from Irving's story. And the headless horseman's jack-o-lantern head is cool.
Okay--consider yourself tagged if you want to participate, and add your own categories to the mix.
Happy Halloween!
