Just wanted to let everyone know about a trail I found out about the other day: the Nashua River Rail Trail. If you find yourself around Ayer, MA (out by 495/Leominster area) you should check out this 11 mile ride through the woods, up to New Hampshire. It's a really nice secluded trail, it was empty when I rode on it, around 7 pm Friday, and there aren't many cross streets along the way, so not much stopping for traffic.
Nashua River Rail Trail Website Other trails I've been on and enjoyed are the
Minuteman Trail from Somerville to Bedford, which is perfect if you don't have a car to get out of Boston, and my favorite, the
Cape Cod Rail Trail, a 26 mile paved pathway from Dennis to Welfleet.
And if you're not near any of these,
http://www.traillink.com is a pretty comprehensive site of trails around the country.
