Oh grrrr, the weathermen here who LIE predicted a STORM. Now to me, a storm with snow and ice is a bad thing, so, I postponed my trip back to Montreal by a day. So this morning, I wake up, there is barely one inch on the ground and the roads don't even have a speck of ice!!! Because of the forcast, I told my bro and his wife I'd take my niece Josselyn to school this morning and pick her up this afternoon, which means I cannot even make a last minute dash to Vermont. Well, I guess better safe than sorry but I mean come on, how can they be SO off on predicting snow (not like the storm was far away and the winds shifted much).
On a better note, spending my morning with a 5 year old was just illuminating. She seems to be the only one who can make me smile after being woken up out of a coma. She dresses on her own, gets ready to leave on her own - I was willing to watch tv with her for an extra hour and nope, she's all set. I brushed her gorgeous hair, gave her a wet kiss on her little cheek, held her precious hand, and walked out to my car which, had been cleared off by my sister in law. What a sweetie. And she even loved the new Enya CD I had playing in my car on the drive to her school - and then, as if time with her wasn't perfect enough I hear..... "uncle Bill"... and I'm like "yeah sweetie" and she's like, "I love you".... ohhhhhhh she's got me wrapped around her finger.
Now, I'm in heaven - I'm alone in the house, it is quiet except for the wind blowing around the back, and I have a wonderful coffee and bagel. I didn't even get cut off in traffic this morning! Happy new year to me! However, I do have to say, just about everyone out there is in some huge rush - driving really fast to jobs they probably hate. I did see an old man, in front of me, go directly through a red light and all but miss a couple of cars. Note - while driving in Massachusetts, never go at the green without looking both ways first.
