"Harper pledges to boost military numbers"

It is headlines like these which seem to be getting more numerous since the last election that really makes me wonder where Canada is going. Seems that punishing the liberals in the last election means a great shift in the a general 'Canadian Position' in many different arenas. The Conservative agenda in the US put the US back dozens of years, if not more. I hope this doesn't become a Canadian pattern too - or I want my immigration $$ back!!!!!!!

On a brighter note, some asshole in Massachusetts today, while "testifying" to the Judiciary committee at the State House (who is currently deciding if the voters of MA should decide if we should recind gay marriage in this state) claimed gay marriage to be like "a woman marrying a dolphin". Personally, Flipper wasn't my favorite but yeah, I can SO see that analagy! Someone against gay marriage who actually came up with something NOT in the Bible? Wow, considering the pattern of low grade creativity lately on 'that side of the fence', this dyno-tird gets an A for the day! I personally think marrying a dolphin would result in far fewer divorces than what we see statistically. I personally almost married a dog once, but I never thought I had to be afraid of someone keeping tabs on that! My mistake, oops.

After reading that little snippit, I found sending the State of MA $400+ for due taxes not even a palateable thought (in fact it makes my ubertummy growl in nausea) - which means I 'may' get the check in the mail to them, tomorrow. I refuse for my dollars to pay for a day of catering of fine mini corn on the cobs to such snootery.

Someone ( a very close friend ) of mine who is a Christian did tell me that the morality of the US and its laws was based in religious beliefs, so the notion that religion and state should be separated, well, was "never" the true flavor or intent of the constitution. In fact, this person told me that Church and State are only separated as a way for the government NOT to discriminate against any religious practice. If we take this arguement to a brief moment in time before the writing of the constitution (which ironically, the original in DC cannot be read), this country may have been partly created for religious freedoms, but I don't think those people would ever come to either believe or accept that the religious freedoms they tried to protect, should ever be used as an open door policy to discriminate.
