Moving into the new workplace is paying off! Spending a lot of time there, and finally getting stuff done again. Even finished the first segment: the tail! I'm not 100% happy with it, but it will have to do for now. Looking back at the photos, it reminds me more of a raccoon than anything else.
It still flows beautifully, which cost me a lot of extra work; I had tried out sewing the different color furs together, and then covering the tail with it, but that hindered the movement. So instead I stitched separate black and white strips of fur onto spandex, and afterwards closed it up, basically ending up with a tail-sock. An added bonus is that it will be much easier to clean now.
---EDIT---
A friend helped make a video! Just a quick test of the movement; unprepared, unedited video. Just ignore everything else and focus on the tail. ;)
http://youtu.be/96yg9yRQPj8 The 2 white buildings are connected, and me and AJ are renting the ground floor. It used to be a school building, along with the blue building to the left of it, which is now a daycare center.
A couple of WIP shots. Please excuse the shoddy sewing; pretty much my first time sewing on a machine.
Finished! It looks OK-ish on the photos, but you'd have to see it in action to really appreciate it. Will see if I can get someone to make a video of the swaying.
