Victor/Raven beta set for 1sentence

#01 - Walking
He grinned at her rolled eyes and annoyed sigh; if she didn’t want him lingering behind to watch her behind walking, she shouldn’t wear those tight leather pants all the time.

#02 - Waltz
They were quick to argue, quick to lash out, yet slow to forgive.

#03 - Wishes
He wishes that she would just tell him the truth for once instead of making him work to sort fact from fiction.

#04 - Wonder
She stared from a distance (always at a distance, never too close for him to notice he was being watched ) at the child-turned-man she had abandoned all those years ago and wondered what Graydon would have turned out like if she had stayed with Victor.

#05 - Worry
She was late coming back - Victor told himself it was merely heartburn instead of worry that had his gut twisted into knots.

#06 - Whimsy
Not one to daydream, she often caught herself hoping for a happily ever after that the realist in her knew would never happen.

#07 - Waste/Wasteland
He had a habit of throwing out the last of the uneaten pizza, knowing that she would say something about wasting food.

#08 - Whiskey and rum
The ice in their drinks slowly melted - Jack Daniels for him, Bacardi and cola for her - as they mopped the floor of the pool hall with unassuming newbies and collected their winnings.

#09 - War
He wished she’d stop listening to talk of the coming war between humans and mutants - ever since joining the Brotherhood she’d been filled with a purpose that drove the Raven he once knew further and further away from him.

#10 - Weddings
She used to browse the bridal magazines in book stores, but try as she might, she could never picture them together in formal wear even though he cleaned up nice in a suit and white was one of her trademark colors.

#11 - Birthday
He didn’t remember his birth date and she never told him how old she really was, so they never had cause to celebrate either.

#12 - Blessing
She couldn’t decide if the moment she met him had been a blessing or a curse.

#13 - Bias
“You’d do good to hire him, he’s the best in the field,” she said, unaware that the person in question was in the doorway eavesdropping to her phone conversation.

#14 - Burning
He turned the cheap photo booth strip of pictures - two people pretending to be in love, one suddenly realizing he had stopped pretending years ago - in his hands before throwing them into the fireplace, staring as the heat blistered and distorted their images.

#15 - Breathing
Some days he hated his acute sense of smell; he’d simply inhale and catch a whiff of her perfume some woman walking by was wearing and he’d miss her all over again.

#16 - Breaking
Toad knew to stay clear of the kitchen once the dishes started breaking: Mystique had one hell of an arm, but she tended to miss her big, blond target when she was truly incensed.

#17 - Belief
“It’s the principle that people shouldn’t mow their lawn before eight in the morning,” Victor sleepily groused just as Raven held onto his arm and said, yawning, “Don’t kill another neighbor, I don’t want to move again.”

#18 - Balloon
A child wailed, Raven frowned, and Victor shrugged as he picked latex and string from his claws.

#19 - Balcony
He watched as she stood on the hotel balcony as if she was waiting for something and fought the urge to inform her that if she was hoping for Romeo to show up, she was in for a long wait.

#20 - Bane
She knew better than to go to him after a fight with Wolverine; he’d take out his aggression on her and she wasn’t in the mood to patch herself up afterwards.

#21 - Quiet
He thought he’d enjoy being on his own again, but soon realized that he couldn’t sleep without the soft sounds of her breathing beside him.

#22 - Quirks
She never said anything about his need to always sit with his back facing a wall and he never questioned why she always wrote out grocery lists alphabetically.

#23 - Question
“Why do we keep doing this?” she asked him and the only answer he had for her was “I don’t know.”

#24 - Quarrel
He secretly liked fighting with her, as long as they kept the arguments light and never went to the places that would want them to hurt the other.

#25 - Quitting
He looked at the woman smoking his last cigarette and idly thought about giving them both up, though he knew he’d never be able to do it.

#26 - Jump
“I wish you’d stop doing that,” she scowled, picking up the book she dropped, knowing that he’d keep sneaking up on her as long as she kept jumping when he did it.

#27 - Jester
He watched angrily as other men flirted with her, not caring if she wasn’t flirting back- he’d be damned if anyone would make him look like a fool.

#28 - Jousting
She’d never tell him, but she liked their verbal sparring matches; people tended to overlook his sharp mind and it was kind of fun to pit her wits against his.

#29 - Jewel
“That dress of yours looked too plain without it,” he gruffly explained, fastening the clasp of the necklace behind her and letting his hands stay on her shoulders.

#30 - Just
They liked it when they were together and not at each other’s throats, not Sabretooth and Mystique, just Victor and Raven.

#31 - Smirk
He’d quirk his lips at her, smirking but never really smiling.

#32 - Sorrow
After Destiny had died, Raven had fallen into such a deep pit of mourning that nothing Victor said to goad her out of it had worked.

#33 - Stupidity
“You let them get away! How could you be so -” The nameless boss that had hired them both actually heeded Raven’s warning look, knowing that angering an already enraged man was a potentially fatal idea, ending his outburst with “just see that you catch up to them and complete your assignment.”

#34 - Serenade
Sometimes she’d lean against the bathroom door and listen to him hum to himself in the shower; it’s the closest he’ll ever come to singing to her.

#35 - Sarcasm
“No Victor, I stay with you because I enjoy all the verbal abuse; why else would I?”

#36 - Sordid
“So how was your day?” was a loaded question; he was tempted to fill her in on all the gristly details.

#37 - Soliloquy
“She drives me crazy sometimes - I don’t know what it is about her; I can’t decide if I want to stick around or forget I ever met her.”

#38 - Sojourn
The hotel was dingy and the walls paper-thin, but it wasn’t like they were going to stay there long.

#39 - Share
One would think that a king sized bed would be enough for two people, but he always wound up on her side and stole all the sheets.

#40 - Solitary
Alone in the dark of the Xavier Mansion, Victor couldn’t help but think of Raven and how much he hated her.

#41 - Nowhere
“Admit it, we’re lost,” she said, continuing her rant with “and knowing we’re in the middle of nowhere without a map and a quarter tank of gas left doesn’t count.”

#42 - Neutral
It was hard for both of them to sit on the fence on any subject, especially when there were so many shades of gray to play around in.

#43 - Nuance
She had every little nuance of his personality memorized, but she was still a big jigsaw puzzle to him where the pieces didn’t fit where they should or they were missing altogether.

#44 - Near
He seldom held her hand in public, but he would stand close enough for their bodies to touch often.

#45 - Natural
It wasn’t a big deal for one of them to go around the apartment nude from the shower to the bedroom or otherwise; they were as comfortable in their own skin as they were in everyday clothes.

#46 - Horizon
She watched the sun go down over the horizon; he watched the way her hair turned even redder in the dying light.

#47 - Valiant
He wasn’t Prince Charming, but he would do.

#48 - Virtuous
“I’m not a good person,” she said and he replied with “Neither am I, so who cares?”

#49 - Victory
He’d won the argument, but the stony silence she gave him made it feel like an empty win.

#50 - Defeat
She slumped her shoulders and sighed, knowing that she had lost and knowing that he’d never let her forget about it either.
