Buchan-eers

While in Vancouver, we stayed at a lovely little hotel called The Buchan. It's located a block away from Stanley park in a very residential area. We liked it for many reasons, but the ambiance and price were high on the list. It was $73(CN) a night for a room with private bathroom. The rooms were said by some folks in reviews to be small, but we felt they were perfectly adequate. The place also had a very nice reading room with fireplace, newspapers, minuscule library, etc. Perhaps the best part was Ziggy the cat, whom we initially assumed was the hotel cat, but turned out to be a neighborhood cat. I sat with Ziggy a fair bit while reading and he came to visit us in our room a couple times. It gave the place a feel of home, not unlike a (proper) used bookstore -- which should of course feature at least one cat.
