So Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, the plot-stripped, mutilated version of the original 1998 Silent Hill game, is set to be released on Wii in December. Just in time for the holiday season. PS2 and PSP versions are also set to be released, although when hasn't been released yet.
Until then, fans (if there are any fans of the games that didn't show up due to the movie anymore) have been gifted with a little snippet of character bios for most of the major characters. Here they are, directly from Konami:
Harry Mason - While driving through the spooky streets of Silent Hill, Harry's car skids on a patch of ice and veers off the road into a ditch. Upon waking from the crash, he realizes his daughter Cheryl is missing and sets out into the dark, freezing night to find her.
Cheryl Mason - Harry's daughter who has mysteriously disappeared, causing him to brave the streets of Silent Hill. She's a cheerful girl who loves her father very much.
Cybil Bennett - After years on the police force, Cybil has seen a lot of crazy things, but she's not quite sure what to make of Harry Mason. She decides early on to keep an eye on him, and their paths cross repeatedly.
Lisa - Lisa is a nurse at Alchemilla Hospital. Although she's young, lines of experience are already evident on her face. Despite her cynicism, Harry finds himself protective of Lisa and offers to lend her a hand.
Well, sounds about the same so far. The patch of ice thing is definitely a change from the original game, as Harry originally was distracted by a friendly little wave to Cybil and the ultimate crash was caused by him swerving away from Alessa who decided it would be fun to stand in the middle of the road, iirc. But, well, we knew there would be changes, after all. Lisa's personality seems to be adapted from 0rigins, and the lines on her face could be a reference to her drug addiction. The roles of Cheryl, Cybil, and Lisa sound pretty much the same from what's been provided, anyway.
Dr. K - A friendly, relatable therapist who shows up periodically to evaluate the player. His therapy sessions consist of interactive psychological test which players will actually take part in.
...Wait, Dr. K? As in... Dr. Kaufmann? The wholly unlikeable asshole drug pusher doctor? Apparently, he's a therapist now. A friendly, relatable therapist. Who seems to no longer have any impact on the plot whatsoever.
Well, hey, this could just be a misleading little bit of info. Naturally, Konami knows that longtime Silent Hill fans will be interested in seeing the new version of the start of their beloved game series, and are expecting "Dr. K" to be Dr. Kaufmann. It could be an entirely different character, while Kaufmann is still around behind the scenes, yet to be revealed.
Michelle - Michelle meets Harry at her High School reunion, however he doesn't remember it. Tired of waiting to meet up with her boyfriend, she decides to aid Harry in finding his daughter.
Okay, new characters. Aside from Harry sounding a little senile at this point, that's not so bad. She could be a totally awesome new character. I mean, Harley Quinn of Batman fame was added into the animated series, and was such a good character she was brought into the comics universe of Batman as well. And having a little help on Harry's search might be a good thing. And, well, Harry wouldn't be the first Silent Hill protagonist to forget about events in his life. It's not looking so terribly ba--
Dahlia - A tough, street-wise young girl, Dahlia seems to know quite a bit about Harry. The fact that he can't remember anything about her confuses Dahlia as much as it does Harry.

We can't even blame that on the movie. That's not even... what. Why bother keeping the name if you're just going to... Did... Did someone just read a list of characters' names and make up the rest from there!? What is wrong with Dahlia not being young? What is wrong with Dahlia that-- I-- I just-- what. I...
