Welcome to Lucky's Atutumn Surprise

Taking a quick break from fence repair.
Blueberry FINALLY foaled after all this time, which means Lucky bred her again later than we thought. So far as we can tell, since we cant get too close, is its a filly. Being the first day of Autumn, the choice of name for her was obvious.
She is brownish, sort of deer colored, with grey points for now and almost 2' from nose to rump. Pictures will be posted when available.

The main thing we had to do for foal safety has cost us any chance of seeing the Budweiser Clydes on parade today. We let Dingle out into the middle pasture and he proceeded to pick a fight with jake in the upper pasture and nearly wrecked the gate trying to get at him. Gelding doesnt seem to have dampened his pissyness toward other males. After I blocked off the gate with a tractor, he proceeded to the lower pasture fence, decide he was going to whip them into shape since his blood was up and demolished over 50' of fencing first by plowing through it, then chasing everyone back through the fence where he came through. Fortunately, no one has anything worse than scratches. I wish MY hide was that tough vs. barbed wire... Dingle is back in the "Jail" pen and closely watched by all the mares, who will clobber him if he tries anything funny with the foal.

The cows are irate at not getting out today, but I dont want Bonnie and Clyde anywhere near the peremeter fence while the inner fence is down -as bull headed as she's been acting lately, and Clyde's been following her wherever she goes. 3 and 4 strand fence might as well be an open door for her and the cattle across the road have been sounding awfully friendly to her, with them calling back and forth to each other...

Since I'm still recovering strength from the bout of blood poisoning in my sinuses, I will have to take over Pat's bathtub for an hour and soak the aches I will have in plenty in a few hours. This place really, REALLY needs a hottub.
