Lease time's about up. The complex is full of college people (mainly bros) moving out. I'm sure there will be a relatively equal amount moving back in ... if I'm unlucky, I might have some as roommates.
I can get along with most people, even bros, but some people need a bit more effort on my part than others. Jordan and Gene were pretty much ideal, even if Gene tended to keep to himself mostly. The next couple of months will be interesting.
Late summer / early fall has always been my favorite time of year. Partially the weather and sights, but a lot of it probably has to do with a general theme of change. Normally at this time of year something in my life is changing - for the past 4 years I've been on the way to something new each time this month came around. From college to AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps to grad school (even if in the same city), then to Louisiana with AmeriCorps, then to North Carolina with grad school again.
But now I'm sticking around. Same program, same town. I'm even staying in the same apartment. Weird.
This program is easier than physics was ... and I haven't been good enough about kicking my own ass. I had the month to work on research and prepare for teaching next month. Didn't get much done on either front, honestly. At least I climbed a profile trail twice? And did a good sunrise hike? Hmm.
Now I have this weekend to finish my proposal, maybe do a site calibration. It's just me, no girlfriend or roommate in town. Time to get to it!
